4/5 from me, too. This episode had much more humor than the pilot. (And more Nicole Sullivan )I think the show now found its style. I don't like the psychiatrist. She's unnecessary IMO. And it seems like they wanted to follow some kind of formula (Tony Soprano got a shrink, Adrian Monk got a shrink, so Raines need one too.).

Well, people are noticing he's talking to himself.
Plus, he would've got suspended if he didn't go. I think he's growing fond of Samantha, though.

4/5 for me. As GoldblumFanatic pointed out, people were noticing that Raines was talking to himself. As that one cop pointed out(it's only the second episode it always takes me awhile to memorise characters' names.) seeing someone talking to themselves when they're licenced to carry a gun is bond to make people nervous.
Even though the shrink thing has been done before I think Raines could use a sounding board who isn't a figment of his imagination.

I think Raines needs a real person to talk about his deep down stuff, like he does ex-partner. Since he has an emotional issue, professional help had to come into play or people would be bashing the police department for letting crazy acting detectives stay on the force. I think it will show us what makes him tick. We'll find it out as he does.
