I really loved the Sherlock Holmes reference! (The exact story is Silver Blaze in case you're not a big SH fan.)
"Alice" sure had a lot of funny lines in the beginning, loved how sassy she was. The "mad tea party" bit kinda creeped me out a little. I'm hoping that Raines was just semi-sleepwalking, it's a little too early to have him go completely over the edge. I liked that he told the shrink about what he sees.
Poor Alice, I'm glad her boyfriend cared enough to come say goodbye. The scattering of her ashes was really sad.
Over at imdb, some people have complained about the show getting all emotional at the end but I like it. Gives the show some heart.

Just between us:
"Reconstructing Alice" was supposed to be the season finale. That's why it was so dark during the rabbit hole sequence and the ending was supposed to leave you wanting more. NBC wanted to use a REALLY good episode to start off the change to Friday nights.
Did anyone fell like the episode was a finale-like show?? The next show is good too, can't wait!

I kinda felt that way. Is this going to create any problems with continuity? Like Raines had already come clean with the doctor about his halucinations and the process he goes through to solve a crime. Will the next episode have her not knowing or learning for the first time?

I gave it 3. It was not bad, but I think that it was the weakest episode so far. Although the part with the rabbit hole was fascinating. And the shot of the ashes in the wind in the end was just beautiful!

It did seem kind of dark, but I didn't have a finale feeling. Interesting, well it did tell some stuff about Raines, ahow his marriage hadn't lasted. I guess this is another sign that more episodes are to come!

The season finale will now be 'Closure', which deals with Raine's ex-wife in depth.

I would never had known it was to be the final show just by watching it. But now that you mention it, I get it.
I think if they can continue to attract great guest stars like Laurie Metcalf, it will do very well.
Good show!
